Relay for Life 2010

Last weekend Zachary and I went to the Relay for Life event at Fleming Island, FL with some friends of mine.  In the photo is me, Stephanie, and Rebecca.  This event was from noon Saturday until 5am Sunday!  Very long.  Zach had a good time and so did I.  I have never been to an event like this before.  It feels really nice to be a part of something good :-)
The ceremony was really beautiful.  It was a moment to reflect.  I, personally, thought of everyone in my family who has fallen victim to Cancer.  I was astonished at how many luminaries were lit for people who died, are sick, or survived cancer...  They lined the entire track :-(
There was a Pajama lap about 1am.  It was very fun.
This photo of Zach was at about 4:15am!  I ended up walking 10 miles total.  We were so exhausted on the way home!  It was a good time and a GREAT cause.

Just Beautiful :-)

If you are bored with my yard, then you may want to skip this one :-)  The pear tree in our back yard was almost dead 2 years ago and covered in some type of black fungus...  We had it treated with no hope of it surviving, but now it is about 15 ft tall and almost every branch has new fruit on it!  I am so excited.  If the pears can hold on through the hurricane season then we can count on eating lots of pears!  YUM :-)
I had to take pictures of the Wisteria vines before the blooms go away.  These are absolutely beautiful to see when they are in full bloom.  The bumble bees and butterflies LOVE them.  Rocko spends his entire day patrolling the fence line catching the bees! One day I hope to cover my entire fence with these vines...
You can see below to the left of the vine, I have planted pumpkins and watermelons!  They are getting bigger each day and I hope to be able to give away pumpkins around fall to my friends and neighbors...  I checked today and I have baby Roma tomatoes coming out, baby squash, and peppers too!
